U.S. stocks open down after jobless claims data as S&P 500 extends losses after Fed meeting

U.S. stocks opened down Thursday as investors assessed the latest jobless claims data and 10-year Treasury yields rose in the wake of the Federal Reserve’s policy meeting. The Dow Jones Industrial Average DJIA was down 0.3% soon after the opening bell, while the S&P 500 SPX dropped 0.6% and the Nasdaq Composite COMP slumped 1%, according to FactSet data, at last check.
